The title of an ABC News article released on December 9, 2012 is “Royal Hoax TRAGEDY: Australian Radio Station Cancels Show After Nurse’s Death” (Web-site/URL:

“a spokesperson for the hospital (King Edward VII)  told ABC News” “Following the hoax call, the radio station did not speak to anyone in hospital senior management or anyone at the company that handles our media enquiries“.

“The Australian radio show that pulled the prank call on Kate Middleton’s hospital last week has been canceled, according to a statement from Southern Cross Austereo, which owns 2Day FM“.

“The hosts of the show, Mel Greig30, and Michael Christian25, who were responsible for the call, will not return to the airwaves until further notice, the statement said. The network also ordered a company-wide suspension of prank calls”.

“As for the most recent episode, the two Australian radio DJs who prank-called the London hospital where Middleton was being treated last week said they were “shattered” and “gutted” after the nurse who answered their call apparently killed herself”.

Christian said: “I’m SHATTERED, GUTTED, HEARTBROKEN“. ARE THEYREALLY? “Mel and myself ARE INCREDIBLY SORRY (?) for the situation and what’s happened“. ARE THEYREALLY? “I had the idea. … It WAS just (supposed to be) a SIMPLE HARMLESS (?) phone call” that WASN’T “harmless”. It WENT HORRIBLY WRONG. “It WAS going to go on for 30 seconds. We WERE going toGET HUNG UP ON“. These were the comedians’ EXPECTATIONS  (Web-site/URL: or WERE THEY? Of course they could be just PUTTING ON A FREAK SHOW. “It was just something that was fun and light-hearted and a tragic turn of events that I DON’T think anyone had expectedThis is when we must understand other people’s CULTURE because people in many countries take things far more seriously than people in the US, UK, Canada and Australia do, for example.

“Saldanha was found dead Friday morning after police were called to an address near the hospital to “reports of a woman found unconscious“, according to a statement from Scotland Yard”.

“Greig cried today (December 9, 2012) when asked about the moment she heard of the death of Saldanha, a mother of two”. “through tears”, Greig said: “It was THE WORST (?) phone call (that) I’ve ever HAD TO MAKE?) in my life“. Greig “had (to make)” that prank call? “There’s not a minute that goes by that we don’t think about her family and the thought that we may have played a part in that is GUT-WRENCHING (?)” Greig and Christian should have realized this BEFORE making that prank call.

Finally, “Max Moore-Wilton, the chairman of Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), said in a letter Sunday (December 9, 2012) to Lord Glenarthur, chairman of King Edward VII’s Hospital, that the company is reviewing the station’s broadcast policies, the AP reported”. “I can assure you we are taking IMMEDIATE (?) action and reviewing the broadcast and processes involved“. Of course this WON’T be enough for many who are OUTRAGED and HORRIFIED by the circumstances surrounding Jucintha Saldanha’s death. “As we have said in our own statements on the matter, the outcome was UNFORSEEABLE (?) and VERY REGRETTABLE“. This prank NEVER SHOULD’VE BEEN APPROVED IN THE FIRST PLACE. This tragedy was purely due to A COMPLETE DISREGARD TOWARD OTHER CULTURESA joke that would have ended up on “Saturday Night Live” and “Letterman” has now CAUSED A DEATH and their radio station is clearly now IN DAMAGE CONTROL MODE.

So even though Mel Greig and Michael Christian were not directly responsible for Saldanha’s death, they can justifiably be mentioned in the same breath as   JOVAN  BELCHER and NAHEEM DAVISbecause in this day and age, we should be aware of and appreciate the fact that NOT everyone is like us and the fact that they didn’t and were even LAUGHING about it until just a few days ago also makes them A DISGRACE
