The title of a recently released Yahoo! article is “Re-elected, Obama heads back to DIVIDED GOVERNMENT” (Web-site/URL: http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/advisor/elected-obama-heads-back-divided-government-201030410.html).
According to former Republican Party Chairman (and former Mississippi Governor) Haley Barbour, ” We’ve got to deal with the issue of IMMIGRATION through GOOD POLICY (?)” What is THE RIGHT policy if we want economic growth in America as it relates to IMMIGRATION?” What is “good policy?” “Complete the danged fence?” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0lwusMxiHc)?
“The White House said Obama had made post-election phone calls to congressional leaders and reiterated a commitment to bipartisan steps to “reduce our deficit in a BALANCED way, cut taxes for MIDDLE CLASS families and small businesses and (above all) CREATE JOBS“. There are THREE things to note here. First, “reduce our deficit in a BALANCED way?” What exactly is “balanced?” NOTHING is COMPLETELY “balanced”. As far as “cut taxes (ONLY) for MIDDLE CLASS families”, we know Republicans WON’T agree with that. Also, all the POLITICIANS have been screaming about “(creating) jobs”, but few have been able to actually DO IT.
On top of this, the statement said: “The president said he believed that the American people SENT A MESSAGE (?) in yesterday’s (November 6, 2012) election that leaders in BOTH parties NEED TO PUT ASIDE THEIR PARTISAN INTERESTS and work with COMMON (?) PURPOSE to put the interests of the American people and the American economy first”. This is clearly NOT happening. POLITICIANS will NEVER COMPLETELY “put aside their partisan interests” and they certainly DON’T have much (if ANYTHING) in “common”, except RE-ELECTION PROSPECTS of course and that means PLAYING DIRTY and PLAYING NEGATIVE of course and they will still “put “partisan interests…first”.
“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told reporters that any solution should include HIGHER taxes on “the richest of the rich”. Well, we know Republicans WON’T agree with that.
Finally, “Reid said he spoke with Republican House Speaker John Boehner as well as Obama Tuesday night (November 6, 2012) as the election results became known and he declared that “of course” a compromise WAS (?) possible on the overall issue“. REALLY? “I’m NOT going to draw a line in the sand. He’s (Boehner is) NOT going to draw a line in the sand (either), I don’t BELIEVE“. This is far more like an EXPECTATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
So the US “government” IS STILL “divided”. Two years after the ANTI-INCUMBENT movement to GET RID OF the status quo in the 2010 mid-term election, we have now voted to KEEP the status quo.
