The title of a recently released MSNBC article is “MILE (?)-high stakes for first presidential debate” (Web-site/URL: http://nbcpolitics.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/03/14202234-mile-high-stakes-for-first-presidential-debate?lite). “stakes” of course = EXPECTATIONS (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
According to Colorado Sen. Mark Udall, a Democrat. “Gov. Romney, to me, SEEMINGLY SHIFTS HIS SHAPE. I DON’T REALLY KNOW what Gov. Romney STANDS FOR– you look at his Massachusetts record, you look at what he promoted when he was running for the U.S. Senate (against TED KENNEDY in 1994 of course) – and now you compare that with his various proposals since he’s been running for office“, THE HIGHEST PUBLIC “office”. Also “shifts his shape” and “I don’t really know what Governor Romney stands for” are problematic because this brings into question Romney’s PRINCIPLES/VALUES. We certainly don’t want a President who FLIP-FLOPS. “So I think this debate tonight (October 3, 2012) will continue the dynamic of the campaign that’s focused on CONTRASTS and DIFFERENCES“. Again, this is EXPECTED, because people want to demonstrate how they are “Superior” or BETTER THAN their rivals (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). This is especially true for POLITICIANS.
According to Caroline Peale, “who attended Ann Romney’s event on Tuesday afternoon (October 2 2012) in Littleton (CO)”, “I DON’T think he has been TOUGH enough. He has SO MUCH AMMUNITION. HE DOESN’T USE IT!” “ammunition”, again reinforces the fact that many Republicans are lifetime NRA members.
“Peggy Fulster, a SELF-DESCRIBED independent voter who decided for Romney in recent months, said: “I BELIEVE he’s (Romney is) behind, but I THINK HE CAN MAKE UP GROUND. I think a lot of people are SITTING ON THE SIDELINES to see what happens in the debates”. Fulster HAS ALREADY “decided for Romney” so IS SHE “independent?” This is just her INTERPRETATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI) and of course we’ve talked about how problematic it is there’s ONLY ONE opinion in the world.
For his part, the president said: “Gov. Romney, HE’S A GOOD DEBATER. I’M JUST OK”. Once again, we’re reminded about how important CONCESSIONS are, EVEN IF we think we’re better than someone else because, again, if we’re perfect, OTHER PEOPLE DON’T NEED TO LIVE. That’s the fundamental definition of “Arrogance” or being “Superior” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). “BUT what I’m most concerned about is having a serious discussion about what we need to do to keep the country growing and restore security for hardworking Americans. That’s what people are going to be listening for. THAT’S THE DEBATE YOU DESERVE”. Here, we have the REFUTATION first with “but” and as we know, “but” is EXTREMELY problematic because it NEGATES THE OTHER PERSON’S PERSPECTIVE (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-AJviZ8Itk&feature=relmfu). Next, the President outlines what HE is going to do (“keep the country growing…”) Of course with economic growth as weak as it is, whether or not he is able to do/achieve this IS ANYONE’S GUESS. However, the important thing is: when we refute our opponents we need to HAVE OUR OWN FEASIBLE IDEAS.
Udall went on: “I could see BOTH men BRISTLING a little bit at a comment the other one might make“. Again, this is EXPECTED (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI), because this is a debate among/between POLITICIANS. “There are times where you feel no good deed goes unpunished and you want to at least PUSH BACK – IF NOT PUNCH BACK – and SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT“, again based on each candidate’s INTERPRETATIONS. Also “push back” and “punch back” are yet more examples of the “force and pain technique” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). “I think there’s a way to modulate it … You respond with a punch, but it’s got to be a CLEAN, ABOVE BOARD PUNCH that’s APPROPRIATE FOR THAT SETTING“, which, unfortunately, is RARELY the case, let’s be honest because POLITICIANS these days rarely IF EVER do things COMPLETELY “above board”.
“At a rally Monday evening (October 1, 2012) in the Denver area”, Romney went on: “There’s going to be all the scoring of winning and losing, and you know, IN MY VIEW, IT’S NOT SO MUCH winning and losing or even THE PEOPLE THEMSELVES”. This is an ELECTION. So, if it’s NOT about “winning” or “losing” and it’s also NOT about “the people”, WHAT is “it…about” then? This is A VERY STRANGE INTERPRETATION “I LOOK FORWARD TO these debates. I’m DELIGHTED that we’re going to have THREE debates. It’ll be A CONVERSATION WITH the American people that will span almost an entire month”, THE MOST CRITICAL “month” for these two men. Also notice “a conversation WITH the American people”.
Finally, “WOULD-BE first lady Ann Romney pronounced her husband “EXCITED” and “FOCUSED” in a rally Tuesday afternoon (October 2, 2012)” which is good BUT “excitement” must turn into RESULTS. Also, Ann Romney is only a “Homemaker” and an “Equestrian”, so it’s NOT as if her “pronouncements” mean anything.
