The title of a recently released Al-Jazeera article is “Anti-Japan demonstrations ERUPT across China” (Web-site/URL: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia-pacific/2012/08/201281910499960568.html). “eruptions” are often VIOLENT and EXPLOSIVE.
“Protests against Japan broke out in more than a dozen Chinese cities including Beijing, as authorities ALLOWED thousands of people to VENT THEIR ANGER over an escalating territorial row”. As we know, “vent their anger” is something that Chinese authorities usually DON’T allow people to do on DOMESTIC issues/grievances.
“The demonstrations, which saw Japanese businesses, restaurants and cars targeted in some cities on Sunday (September 16, 2012), ERUPTED after Japanese NATIONALISTS landed on an island claimed by both countries”. “nationalists”, of course, believe that their countries CAN DO NO WRONG. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. Also, again “eruptions” are often VIOLENT and EXPLOSIVE.
“China, which on Sunday (September 16, 2012) lodged a “STRONG (?) protest” with Tokyo over the landing, calls the archipelago Diaoyu, while Japan, which controls it, calls it Senkaku”. WAS this a ” strong protest?” Again, this is open to INTERPRETATIONS (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“In the southern city of Shenzhen, which borders Hong Kong, protesters waved Chinese flags and shouted slogans as they marched on major streets, with the numbers swelling to about 1,000, THE OFFICIAL Xinhua news agency said”.we know how reliable “Official” news agencies are in COMMUNIST countries: NOT AT ALL. Let’s also note that in Communist/UNdemocratic countries, “official” sources are essentially PROPAGANDA MACHINES, that spit out only the information that THE GOVERNMENT WANTS US TO KNOW/READ/SEE HERE.
“More than 100 people gathered near a complex housing the Japanese consulate in the southern city of Guangzhou, chanting “Japan GET OUT of the Diaoyu Islands”, according to the official Xinhua news agency”. “Diaoyu” is the latest example of EXTREME Chinese nationalism.
“Protesters OVERTURNED a Japanese-made police car and damaged a Japanese restaurant…” “overturned” is obviously/clearly more VIOLENT and EXTREME than “damaged”, which could be mild.
“Anti-Japan protests also occurred in Qingdao, on the east coast, as well as in the northeastern cities of Shenyang and Harbin”. “protests” are mild when we compare these to “overturned”.
“Xinhua named several other cities where demonstrations took place, including the capital Beijing”. Were these “demonstrations” PEACEFUL?
“Protests are usually SWIFTLY put down in China, but one analyst said the government HAD AN INTEREST in allowing them to go ahead, for a time”. This is the HYPOCRITICAL part of the Communist manifesto. Officials will allow violence IF and ONLY IF the violence SUPPORTS THEM/their causes/ideals.
“Willy Lam, a China expert at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), told AFP” “They’re (the Chinese are) USING THE POPULAR CARD TO PUT PRESSURE ON Japan”. There are TWOthings to note here. First this is yet another example of the “force and pain technique” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). Also, notice that Lam is referring to the Chinese as “them”. This will surely get ultra nationalists, including Hong Kong Chief Executive LEUNG CHUN-YING, as well as his predecessor, DONALD TSANG, as well as former Secretary for Constitution & MAINLAND Affairs (previously “Secretary for CONSTITUTIONAL Affairs”) riled up/livid. “The [communist] party leadership realizes NATIONALISM IS A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD. If they see a possibility of the protests escalating, they will give the signals to PUT an end to this” VIOLENTLY? EVEN IF these protests FAVOR them? This is another INTERPRETATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI).
“Some Chinese Internet users called on Beijing to TAKE AN (even) HARDER LINE“. According to a microblog posting by “Mihudemi“, “I’ve been thinking all the time, where is our mother country at this moment? Where is our ARMY? When can China BE TOUGH instead of letting patriots sacrifice?” “be tough” is yet another example of the “force and pain technique” (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). There is definitely a sense that this is NOT over (not by a long shot) and tensions between these two countries will ESCALATE FURTHER.
Finally, “Another, “Li You”, posted on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter: “What is our government going to do about the Japanese landing on the Diaoyu Islands?” An interesting observation about this person is that “Li” in Chinese can mean “pay attention to”. So, this person is ATTENTION-SEEKING, just like KATE MIDDLETON recently.
In addition to nude photos of KATE MIDDLETON and anger being directed at the US and US interests in THE MIDDLE EAST, China is the latest country where NATIONALIST FERVOR and ANGER could easily SPIRAL OUT OF CONTROL. In fact, THIS IS ALREADY HAPPENING with ultra-nationalistic Chinese smashing windows of Japanese shops and POLICE DOING LITTLE IF ANYTHING TO STOP THEM. Now that we mention this, we also need to mention one other EXTREMELY important point. Under any other circumstance, Chinese police are all too eager to use BRUTE FORCE to CRACK DOWN on protesters, even NON-violent ones, via the “force and pain technique (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI), but they AREN’T doing it this time. THIS IS HYPOCRITICAL.
