The title of an Al-Jazeera article released on May 11, 2012 is “Greek parties make FINAL coalition bid” (Web-site/URL: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/europe/2012/05/201251173026812313.html). “final” sounds URGENT/DIRE.
“The leaders of Greece’s once-dominant political parties are making their final effort to form a coalition and avert new elections which could throw the DEBT-CRIPPLED country into further political and economic crisis”. “debt-crippled” has VERY OMINOUS implications. Greece’s debt issues/problems have caused widespread losses and even panic around the world this week (May 7-11, 2012).
“Evangelos Venizelos, the Socialist Party (PASOK) leader, was meeting centre-right New Democracy counterpart Antonis Samaras and other political leaders on Friday (May 11, 2012) for last-ditch talks aimed at building a government that would honour Athens’ commitment to an EU-IMF bailout plan”. “last-ditch” sounds URGENT/DIRE.
“But the leader of Greece’s moderate (?) Democratic Left party Fotis Kouvelis appeared to DASH HOPES of a coalition deal on Friday (May 11, 2012), saying he WOULD NOT back a pro-bailout government and that the country was heading to new elections“. “dash hopes” and “would not” are the latest NEGATIVE phrases. Let’s also notice “moderate”, because NO political party is COMPLETELY “moderate”; there are always/there will always be EXTREME elements.
“Kouvelis told a meeting of his parliamentary group” “We have made it clear, the Democratic Left party WILL NOT take part in a (coalition) government of New Democracy and
PASOK”. WOW.This is the same negative attitude that brought ADOLF HITLER to power in Germany.
“Al Jazeera‘s Tim Friend (he must have LOTS OF “friends”), reporting from Athens, said some (?) of the Greek parties WERE NOT ready to enter a “rainbow coalition. The real difficulty is the RADICAL left, who are doing really well and the general feeling is that a coalition would have to acknowledge their success“. “the radical left” and other political parties ON THE FRINGES of politics are usually LEFT OUT OF coalition governments. “Of course, the RADICAL left want to DO AWAY WITH the austerity measures and TEAR UP THE AGREEMENT“. Again, we can draw comparisons to HITLER because this is exactly what he did to THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES: he “(tore it) up”.
Finally, “Wolfgang Schaeuble, the German finance minister, said in an interview published on Friday (May 11, 2012) that the eurozone would cope without Greece”. Schaeuble told the regional Theinische Post “We want Greece TO REMAIN IN the eurozone” of course. “But IT ALSO HAS TO WANT THIS and to FULFILL ITS OBLIGATIONS” obviously, but when was the last time any POLITICIAN did this? “WE CAN’T FORCE ANYONE” of course. GREECE IS NOT CHINA. “Europe WON’T sink that easily“. Let’s HOPE that this is the case.
It sure seems as if/sounds like MORE INSTABILITY (both political & economic) IS IN THE WORKS/ON THE HORIZON.
