The title of a recently released Yahoo! article is “Romney taking credit for (the) AUTO INDUSTRY (?) success” (Web-site/URL: http://news.yahoo.com/romney-taking-credit-auto-industry-success-031025566.html).
“Campaigning in the backyard of America’s auto industry, Mitt Romney re-ignited the bailout debate by suggesting (that) HE deserves “A LOT of credit” for the recent successes of the nation’s largest car companies”.
“in an interview inside a Cleveland-area auto parts maker”, Romney said: “I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy and finally when that was done and help was given, the companies got back on their feet. So, I’LL take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back“. Point of Emphasis: I.
“in a November, 2008 opinion article (op-ed) in the New York Times“, Romney wrote: “If General Motors, Ford and Chrysler get the BAILOUT that their chief executives asked for yesterday (May 7, 2012), you can kiss the American automotive industry goodbye. It WON’T go overnight, but its demise will be virtually guaranteed“. “bailout” suggests that, once again, Romney is reinforcing the GOP ideal that TAXPAYERS SHOULDN’T FOOT THE BILL FOR BIG BUSINESS FAILURES.
Finally, “The Obama campaign pounced on Romney’s statement Monday night (May 7, 2012), calling it “a new low in dishonesty” and calling on him to have “the COURAGE and INTEGRITY (?)” to admit (that) he was wrong”. Which POLITICIAN has “integrity” these days? The Obama and Romney camps are REALLY going after each other now that Romney is the presumptive GOP presidential nominee and we’re inching closer every day to the all-important date of November 6 2012
(Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2012), when we will know who will lead the United States for the next four years.
So, MITT ROMNEY saved Detroit and by association, the US auto industry? ONLY because he was born in Michigan? (Web-site/URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Romney). THAT DOESN’T MAKE ANY SENSE. Again, this sounds like the GAO WEI and CUI XILING nonsense. Gao Wei talked about his “future wife” at the time, in 2002 (Web-site/URL: http://www.se.cuhk.edu.hk/~wgao/publication/master-thesis.pdf). Gao Wei’s argument was that he was going to Hong Kong to do his Ph.D while Cui Xiling would do her M.Phil. Well, THAT WAS A LIE. CUI XILING did her Ph.D in Hong Kong (Web-site/URL: http://www.hksyu.edu/ba/CuiXiling.html). This case has SPECIAL INTERESTS written all over it. Mitt Romney saying that he saved Detroit or “(took) credit for (the) auto industry success” isn’t a case of special interests, BUT IT’S EQUALLY NONSENSICAL.
