The title of a recently released Yahoo! article is “For 9/11 victims’ families, hearing ANOTHER ORDEAL” (Web-site/URL: http://news.yahoo.com/9-11-victims-families-hearing-another-ordeal-201451679.html). “another ordeal” is EXCRUCIATING and is therefore HIGHLY NEGATIVE. Losing loved ones on that horrible day is an “ordeal” by itself/already. WE DON’T NEED ANOTHER ONE.
“MOANS, SIGHS and EXCLAMATIONS erupted Saturday (May 5, 2012) as relatives of Sept. 11 victims watched four closed-circuit TV feeds from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, that showed the self-proclaimed mastermind of the attacks and co-defendants trying to slow their arraignment, a move that drew outbursts from viewers of “c’mon, are you kidding me?” Of course, “exclamations” are also negative in this case, along with “moans”, “sighs” and the phrase “are you kidding me?”, an incredulous and angry expression.
According to Jim Riches, “whose firefighter son, Jimmy, died at the World Trade Center”, “It’s actually a JOKE, it feels RIDICULOUS“, two VERY NEGATIVE expressions. “IT’S BEEN A MESS for 11 years”. “It’s been a mess for 11 years” is another VERY NEGATIVE sentiment. “It looks like IT’S GOING TO BE A VERY LONG TRIAL” obviously. … THEY WANT WHAT THEY WANT“. So according to Riches, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial is nothing more than A SPECTACLE. “I saw what they did to our loved ones — CRUSHED THEM TO PIECES“, another expression of ANGER/DISGUST. Also notice that the dad is JIM and the son was JIMMY, implying that this father-son team was very close.
“At Fort Hamilton, Lee Hanson said he became deeply angry as he watched the delays being caused by men he blames for the death of his son, daughter-in-law and 9/11’s youngest victim — his granddaughter, 2-year-old Christine Hanson. All were aboard United Flight 175, the second plane to crash into the twin towers”. More specifically, Hanson, “a silver-haired retiree from Eaton, Conn”, said: “They praise Allah. I say, ‘ DAMN YOU!'”, another clear expression of ANGER/DISGUST/RAGE. This is understandable because Hansen’s granddaughter, a 2-year-old, was lost that day.
According to Debra Burlingame, “who attended the viewing on behalf of her brother, Charles Burlingame, who piloted the jet that hijackers crashed into the Pentagon (AA Flight 77)”, “My brother WAS MURDERED in the cockpit of his airplane and WE WILL HAVE TO STAND UP FOR HIM“. Burlingame is another person who is clearly and justifiably FURIOUS/OUTRAGED/LIVID. “More than a decade after the attacks”… , “we’re back in THE GAME… and THEY DECIDED TO PLAY GAMES“ of course…BUT THIS IS CLEARLY NOT a “game”. “THEY’RE ENGAGING IN JIHAD IN A COURTROOM“. So THIS IS ANOTHER “jihad”, as if there ISN’T enough chaos/uncertainly/instability in the world already.
“Six victims’ families were chosen by lottery traveled to Guantanamo to see the arraignment in person. Others ignored the viewing opportunity altogether. Alan Linton of Frederick, Md., who lost his son Alan Jr., an investment banker, at the World Trade Center, said he and his wife put their names in the lottery for the Cuba trip, but weren’t interested in watching a video feed of the arraignment”. “That’s just not the same as being there to me. Going to Fort Meade, it’s kind of like watching television“. This is the most subdued reaction we’ve seen thus far.
According to Eunice Hanson, “2-year-old Christine’s grandmother”, “When it comes to justice (?), “IT SEEMS LIKE IT’S AN AFTERTHOUGHT“. We can certainly understand. After all, HER GRANDDAUGHTER WAS KILLED IN THE HORRIFIC ATTACK.
Finally, “…New York police Detective Marc Nell said the viewing at Fort Hamilton more than a decade after 14 men in his unit were killed brought a sense of SATISFACTION (?), “a GREAT (?) feeling. It was a feeling of PRIDE (?), being proud knowing that those guys WERE (being) BROUGHT TO JUSTICE (?)” HOW CAN NELL SAY THIS? THIS TRIAL HAS ONLY JUST BEGUN. This must be A POLICE OFFICER’S INTERPRETATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). “justice” will only be served WHEN KHALID SHEIKH MOHAMMED IS CONVICTED, SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT OR EXECUTED. For many (or most?) of the rest of us, who can surely remember,a at least vaguely, where we were and what we were doing when we got the news that day, THAT WAS TERRIFYING.
