The title of a recently released Yahoo! article is “Dozens arrested at Occupy’s 6-month anniversary rally” (Web-site/URL: http://news.yahoo.com/protesters-back-ny-park-occupy-wall-street-anniversary-042145699.html;_ylt=ApiRHVMwnIRC5AJa68o9HwGs0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTNtMnUwZ3E4BG1pdANKdW1ib3Ryb24gRlAEcGtnAzE3OWUyYWIwLWJiMzItM2M3ZC04N2JmLTg3M2E1NWNkMDE0MgRwb3MDMQRzZWMDanVtYm90cm9uBHZlcgMzYWFmYzM0ZC03MGJlLTExZTEtYmU3My03NGM3NjFkNmMyYWM-;_ylg=X3oDMTFrM25vcXFyBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdAMEcHQDc2VjdGlvbnMEdGVzdAM-;_ylv=3).
“Dozens of Occupy Wall Street protesters were arrested during the weekend as police cleared New York’s Zuccotti Park, where demonstrators had gathered for the STRUGGLING movement’s six–month anniversary”.
“The New York Police Department said it arrested 73 protesters between Saturday afternoon (March 17, 2012) and early Sunday morning (March 18, 2012)”.
“Ed Needham, one of several members of the leaderless movement’s press team, said the weekend’s flare-up could draw renewed attention to Occupy Wall Street”. “Every time they use violence to put us down, it only INCREASES the number of people that are empathetic to the cause. IT ADDS FUEL TO THE FIRE and DRAWS ATTENTION to the movement“. This is exactly what the “Occupy” movement wants: “attention”. “Mayor Bloomberg did us a big HELP (?) last night (March 18, 2012) in terms of fundraising“. “Mayor Bloomberg…HELPED…?” REALLY? Politicians are usually trying to STOP “Occupy” movements/protests/prevent them from getting too unruly or out of control “But IT’S NOT JUST about the financial aspects -IT’S NOT about people writing checks, although they will, it’s about people STANDING UP TO BE COUNTED“. Again this sounds like a refrain from the Mideast revolutions.
“Protester Paul Sylvester, 24, of Massachusetts said he was “thrilled” to be back at the park, but said he hoped the movement would begin to CRYSTALLIZE AROUND SPECIFIC GOALS“. “We need to be MORE CONCRETE and SPECIFIC“. Critics say the Occupy movement lacks DIRECTION and CLEAR DEMANDS“. We can say the same thing about the revolutions in the Middle East, especially in SYRIA. AFTER Bashar al-Assad is ousted, then what? Also, Assad still seems to be hanging on…QUITE WELL.
Finally, “On Saturday night (March 17, 2012), independent filmmaker Michael Moore strode through the park before the police incursion”. “I think IT’S GREAT (?) that this movement continues to grow“. REALLY? “I think THE GOALS ARE CLEAR“. Well, this is Moore’s INTERPRETATION (Web-site/URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgnAY_eXYbI). “People are concerned that THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THEIR OWN DEMOCRACY. THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THEIR OWN LIVES“. This concern IS LEGIT. “THIS IS (just) THE BEGINNING. This park is sacred ground for millions across the country”.
So, the “Occupy” movements have been going on now for 6 months and there are all these comparisons to the ARAB uprisings: the “ARAB “spring/summmer/autumn/winter”. However, there is one MAJOR difference: the ARAB uprisings began because people are tired of DICTATORS. As far as “Occupy Wall Street” is concerned however, we have to wonder IF this is only inspired by the extremist TEA PARTY and people who only want to CREATE CHAOS/GRAB SOME HEADLINES.
